I do not recall what the material is yet reminds me of those sturdy pullover wireless bras with thick ribbed layer that lies against the ribcage. Possibly nylon and lycra...I can be wrong. While I was using it, had to remember not pull very taut, it may rip off the metal clip. It's doable, sturdy, the color is standard and I'm fine with it.

**Q: Is the first inch short? I've noticed a lot of reviews of other tape measures say that the first inch on the tape is actually shorter than an inch.**
A: I bought a two pack. One tape was accurate in the first inch while the other was short by 1/16". Oddly enough, the short tape had an accurate first centimeter on the reverse side.

A: It looks short but its not from edge to 1 ich mark it is one inch .these are nice tape measures my wife is a seamstress and she loves them

A: hi, it appears to be hard alluminum, it doesn't bend and will not come off.

A: No this tape is not the one you can sew through unfortunately.
