The pictures made it look like a lightish jacket; which was just what I wanted (living in Arizona)...but it is more of a "cold weather" jacket. The fabric is very thick and is lined with an additional layer. Not ideal for our "winters" in Arizona (~65 degrees in the day)...but if you live somewhere colder than that it's great.
