There is a bit of strong smell when the item arrives (mostly smells like paint), but after about a week of use it is fine.The only annoying thing about this bag is the fact that the latches are actually magnetized clip ins, and you do not actually use the latches to close the bag. If you carry around a lot of stuff you may want to consider another bag, as once you start stretching this one, the magnets let go and your bag just looks and feels goofy while you carry it.I am able to fit a paperback book, a notebook, about 4 quarter inch files, my glasses case, and several pens and pencils in it comfortably, it also has a front pocket that I keep my ID badge and sticky notes in.
