Review: Does its job great! - I bought this a few months back and finally installed it the other day. While it's meant for my ICom 2730A, I'm currently waiting on the loading cable for it, so in the interim I've connected my Baofeng K5+ 10W triband radio. Where my range on receiving was typically around 5-6 miles, I was able to receive a clear signal 25+ miles from the repeater in the mountains of Montana. I installed this on my RAM. I would recommend this for starting out. I don't have an SWR meter, unfortunately, so I cannot give those numbers

**Q: Does it work for 27Mhz?**
A: It should work fine as long as you have the correct antenna on it. The coax should perform better at 27Mhz that at 150 or 400.

**Q: Is the silver bracket necessary for proper operation?**
A: Yes. It helps to make good contact to the mounting surface for proper grounding.

**Q: is this waterproof ?**
A: Yes

**Q: How thick of a surface will this mount to?**
A: I mounted mine to a standard fender mount bracket, and i don't think it will mount to something much thicker than that.  Probably not much more than 3/16 of an inch.
