From the manufacturer Fire Safety The HW1-R mains-powered heat alarm is for dusty or humid rooms where traditional smoke alarms can’t be installed. Designed for Class A2 detection, this heat alarm will sound a warning when the ambient temperature in a room is between 54°C and 70°C. FEWER FALSE ALARMS: Ideal for the kitchen, the HW1-R heat alarm won’t be triggered by humidity or dust, so you’ll be alerted to fires without nuisance false alarms from cooking fumes. INTERLINK MULTIPLE ALARMS: The HW1-R heat detector functions perfectly as a standalone unit but can also be hardwired and interconnected with up to 12 mains-powered smoke (SW1), heat (HW1), or carbon monoxide (CW1) alarms. BACKUP BATTERY: The mains-powered heat alarm is fitted with a backup 9V battery, ensuring that your home remains protected even during a power cut. SUITABLE FOR DOMESTIC PREMISES ONLY: Suitable for domestic properties only. Not suitable for commercial properties. The HW1-R mains heat alarm meets British Safety Standard BS 5446-2:2003. Silence To test the device, press the large test button for 5 seconds. A loud, high-pitched sound confirms that the alarm is functioning correctly. In case of a false alarm, press and hold the test button to temporarily silence the alarm for 10 minutes. Safety Guidelines Suitable for rooms where traditional smoke alarms can’t be installed including kitchens, garages, and lofts. Heat alarms should be sited at least 300 mm from light fittings and walls, and ideally as centrally located as possible. Safety First What should I do if my heat alarm sounds? In the event of a heat alarm sounding STAY CALM: Don’t panic; take immediate action to ensure your safety and that of others. CHECK FOR SMOKE OR FIRE: Look for visible smoke or flames. If you see either, evacuate immediately. EVACUATE: Leave the premises as quickly as possible using the nearest exit. Do not use lifts. Take the stairs. CALL 999: Once outside, call the emergency services, providing the operator with your location and any details about the fire.
