Appearance is very modern, sleek and metallic with a brushed steel effect. Unit feels solid and of quality manufacture, all parts fit snugly. Storage compartment is roomy and convenient too. Operation is simple and intuitive, the levers are color-coded for temperature and well made. Cold and hot water worked perfectly at first, but after about a month the hot side stopped working. I was very busy and it took me too long to check out the return policy, by the time I did the desertcart return deadline had passed. I figured I was stuck with it, as I've never had a good experience trying to invoke a manufacturer's warranty. So after that we used it soley as a cold water dispenser, which worked great, especially since I also got the Iluminum water bottle w/digital display. Having the long-life filter makes the water taste amazing, which is even more impressive when you consider it's Los Angeles! Fast forward to this November, over a year after I bought it I got a prompt to review it from desertcart, and on a whim I replied that I would like to give a review but that it had stopped working so fast it wouldn't be much of one. Imagine my astonishment when Pilar from Iluminum USA Customer Service responded, saying that while I should have brought it to their attention right away because now the warranty was expired, they were going to honor it anyway and send a replacement!! It was like a Christmas miracle: a company caring enough to go above and beyond their obligation in order to make their buyer happy? What??? Am I in a Frank Capra movie? Okay that's hyperbolic obviously but I was seriously so thrilled. As promised the replacement unit arrived and works perfectly, I'll update this in the event it stops but based on the cold water performance (excellent for over a year) and the pride the company takes in their product, I sincerely believe that won't be necessary. Review: Looks great, But leaks!! - This unit is very attractive and at first worked nicely. The hot water got hot enough to brew tea by the cup. But 6 months after I purchased it, the thing started to leak water like crazy. I contact them and they were very pleasant and replaced the unit with a used unit that also leaked! Why they would not replace with a new unit is beyond me. After each replacement they had me jump through all kinds of hoops that simply wasted my time. I've asked for a full refund or a brand new unit that works! So far no response. Kevin ### ⭐⭐ Disappointed *by G***O on March 27, 2014* I didn't expect this grand spectacular dispenser to arrive, but I did expect something that works out of the box, even if only for 5 minutes. Unpacked, it is a nice unit. Not heavy duty, but not the cheapest thing I've even bought either. I was ok with the design and appearance. Fast forward to placing a bottle onto the dispenser. Within minutes, I was cleaning up water from the floor. The tank inside the casing was leaking at the mounting bracket. Now I was getting a little upset because I was actually quite thirsty at that moment... I called them and I couldn't understand a single word. Although polite (I think - I didn't make out any curse words), the phone was breaking up as if she was on a cell phone in a remote wooded area, and I had to strain to understand her English. She recommended I contact Amazon for a replacement because it would be faster. Ok, not unreasonable. "But what about that white plastic piece under the bottle holder? How exactly should that be installed?" No clue what she said...I couldn't understand a word. Since Amazon sells this for a 3rd party, I had to order a new one, and get refunded for the first. Honestly, I should have had one the next day, but even expedited shipping wasn't an option. I don't know what to expect with the replacement, but it better not leak. Seriously, how difficult is it to make a decent product these days? Quality took a back seat to profit for some companies who with smarter decision makers, would realize that at the end of the day, poor quality results in poor profits, or worse. I am not saying to make it bullet proof (Hmmm, I didn't check for bullets...), but at least make an honest effort to make something that doesn't leak out of the box. I gave it 2 stars because it still looks cool in my kitchen even without the bottle, and because the storage compartment didn't leak. ***** UPDATE ***** Got the second dispenser in a few days after Amazon refunded for the first. The second one leaked also!!! I was floored. Amazon issued a return and refund for that also (at least they stand behind their sales, can't ever complain about their service). If I were them, I'd pull this product from their site. Pay the extra and buy a quality brand name dispenser.
