If you are lucky, you may have some notice or indication or if not, it may fail all at once and the failure be entirely unexpected. Mine did just that, failed without notice. So, it is midday and I'm all dressed up and no way to go; one of those situations that would make a preacher cuss. Nobody would be home for at least four hours and every person I knew who could jump my battery was at work, also for at least another four hours. My roadside assistance coverage would come to my house, but that would also entail hours of waiting. I was fuming at the inconvenience and at the fact my battery was dead. (but in all fairness, it had surpassed its promised 60-month warranty). So I made the determination then and there I wasn't going to be unprepared again. I phoned ahead for a new battery to be installed that afternoon and I got on Amazon to see what solutions could be found should this ever happen again. Came across this battery pack that jump-starts dead batteries and after reading the reviews ordered one right away. Soon after it arrived I had the chance to put it to the test when my other vehicle refused to start. I had just parked it and returned to no power. This time I had plenty of people home in case the battery pack didn't work. But it did work and it started that vehicle with the dead battery right up. As it turns out, I had a failing alternator that wasn't charging the battery but the fact remains that the power pack did as advertised. I keep it with me now so I will be prepared for my own emergencies and can also possibly offer quick assistance to some other motorist facing a dead battery who has limited to no options. I have found that as long as the car hasn't been sitting with a dead battery for months on end, there is an excellent chance this little power pack will save the day and soon have you back on the road. Buy it and if you ever hear just a "click" instead of your engine roaring to life, you will know you have it covered. I used it once on my Toyota Tundra when the battery went dead. It worked well. I think this unit is a little under powered for a V-8 though. I think this unit will work better for a 4-6 cylinder car. I recommend a more powerful unit, the next step up for trucks.
