Review: Nice product! Works perfectly for our Xbox and small mixer! - Never thought I'd ever need a voltage transformer. I mean, most electronics support universal voltage these days right? Well, Xbox One apparently doesn't. My roommate brought his Xbox One from Europe, and it couldn't run properly here. After some research, I think we need a transformer. There are cheaper options out there for sure, but for electricals, quality, stability and durability are always the most important. So we chose this one as it seems to have a long history of reputation, and a reasonable price. The product came in with a nice compact look. A bit heavy, but we aren't throwing it around anyway. Some reviews complained about the smell, but I think it is not that bad, why would you keep a transformer around your face? Operating it was pretty straightforward, select the voltage on the back at 110V, plug it in, plug the Xbox in the 220V Universal outlet, turn the transformer on, turn the Xbox on, AND IT WORKS! Till today we have been using it for 3 months now, and it never failed us. We sometimes also used it for my small mixer from China (rated at 250W) and it also worked perfectly. Do pay attention to the suggested wattage though, a 500W transformer doesn't mean it can run 500W appliance, as electronics tend to have a voltage spike when turned on. Some common sense from an engineering student :) There are spare fuses, so you still have a second (and a third) chance. Overall I would recommend this product.
Review: Finally got the courage to turn it on... Worked like a charm. - Why I needed a transformer... because I was stupid enough to buy a Tommee Tippee electric steam steriliser from an ebay seller from UK -- that's how they spell their sterilizer btw. I didn't think about the fact that the plug *might* be different or that the voltage needed would be more than standard US voltage. I blame the brain fart on my pregnancy. I had a universal plug adaptor, but I was scared that the sterIlizer wont sterilize my items at all due to the lower voltage. So I bought this handy dandy transformer... which I wouldn't have needed to buy if I just bought a US version of this thing. *grumble*mutter*mutter* I was so scared to turn mine on when it arrived due to other reviews stating that theirs smoked up and smelled or made weird noises. So I followed the instructions.. behind the transformer is a small little plug like thingy (like a key kinda or pin) and you basically place it on whatever hole you needed as voltage. I placed it on the two holes that was for 110, plugged it in my outlet, then plugged my sterilizer on the transformer outlet that says 220 output (the larger outlet on the right) then I wore my rubber gloves (yes, I even turned mine on wearing rubber gloves), flipped the red switch and VOILA!! ITS ALIVE!!! Bwahahaha! My transformer was very quiet.. Didn't even hear a hum.. I even placed my hand on top of the thing (after making sure I won't get electrocuted) and I didn't even feel any slight vibration. I do think that the burning and smoking and loud noises might be due to other people buying a lower wattage transformer that couldn't handle the item's required wattage to perform. I dunno what the bulbs are for. ONLY CON: Short Cord. What's up with that?

A: I'm an IT VP with a CEO who takes his MacBook all over the world.  The answer is an emphatic NO.  (But, you WILL need adapters to marry your plug to their socket.)

**Q: I come from China and bring a pressure cooker to USA. It doesn't work in USA. May I use your transformer  to transfer voltage from 110V to 220V?**
A: Yes you can, but make sure your appliance wattage is within the load capability of the step-up transformer.Example: your cooker is 1000 watts. At 220V, that's just over 5 amps. At 110V, the draw just under 10 amps.Make sure the step-up transformer is rated at the proper wattage and the amps you need.

Never thought I'd ever need a voltage transformer. I mean, most electronics support universal voltage these days right? Well, Xbox One apparently doesn't. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works fine but very loud hum

It's a little tough for me to rate this, because whether it "works" or not for your purposes depends on what those purposes are. I need a transformer for a subwoofer built for the EU. This transformer does exactly what I need to it do electronically, providing the proper power to the speaker and eliminating the dreadful POP heard when it goes to sleep or wakes up (it's a Genelec F One), but it's unusable for a hi-fi situation because it hums very loudly. For me, it's a return. If I needed it to power something like a French circular saw, then sure, it's great.
