Do not know if you already have one (I was thinking the same thing b4 I bought one), but you barely, barely can see the lights. So I do not think there is a need to turn them off (remember they are LED, so use almost no power). I had to check several times because I can't usually hear the fans running. The lights are pretty when setting up but can't see them once the computer is on it.
