There are some larger stem pieces in the tea, but certainly not to an excessive degree, by any means. I've just gotten the tea today, so I've only had a couple cups of it. I think it's neither pleasant nor unpleasant in taste. It's an earthy flavor, and it's one that I've tasted before in blends without really knowing that it was the passion flower that I was noting. This tea would definitely brew well with mint to enhance the flavor, but so far I've only tried it as is, with nothing added. I did detect a bit of very fine grittiness in the tea--the kind of grittiness that I've sometimes noticed from tea that comes in tea bags. There is no visible particulate in the bottom of my cup at all, though. I usually rinse loose tea before brewing, but I didn't rinse this one when I tried it. I will definitely give the leaves a quick rinse next time I brew a cup. This tea is very relaxing, with the effect being similar to lemon balm tea. I'm happy to have both lemon balm and now this passion flower tea on hand, but most people would probably find lemon balm to be the better tasting of the two.
