## Description

The X-Series earmuffs are 3M’s latest advancement in hearing conservation. New technologies in comfort, design and protection all come together in this groundbreaking earmuff line. The X1A is a lightweight, low-profile earmuff designed for protection against low-level industrial noise and other loud sounds. It features an electrically insulated wire headband, often referred to as “dielectric”. - The wire headband offers consistent pressure over prolonged wearing periods - Earcup pivot points tilt for optimum comfort and efficiency - Replaceable ear cushions and foam liners (hygiene kit HYX1) - Noise Reduction Rating (NRR)b 22 dB. CSA Class A NOTE: The X-Series (over-the-head) headband version is electrically insulated -sometimes referred to as ”dielectric”. The metal components of the headband have been covered by non-conductive material for use in a low voltage electrical hazard (less than 440 V ac). As there are no applicable standards for testing ear muffs against electrical insulating properties, the product has been evaluated at an external laboratory against a modified test method based on EN397:1995. During assessment, the leakage current did not exceed 1.2mA when the external surface of the product made contact with an electrical source. The user must determine the overall suitability of this product for the intended application taking into account any hazards other than noise for which this product is tested. *The NRR may overestimate the hearing protection provided during typical use. 3M recommends reducing the NRR by 50% for estimating the amount of noise reduction provided. Review: Fell apart after a couple uses - I kept this in my van as a spare. When it was time to use it fell apart almost straight away, the outer foam fell off and couldn't be placed back. The customer representative wasn't very helpful. Complete waste of money, will never buy this again.
Review: Comfortable, Fantastic Seal, Unbeatable Price - These are my first set of earmuffs so I really have nothing else to compare to, except a pair of Bose QC25 active noise canceling headphones (which I'm now returning because these earmuffs are so good!). That said, these earmuffs are fantastic. Absolutely unbelievable sound isolation for the asking price, which was just under $12 at time of purchase. The earpads, and pretty much everything else about the muffs, is built like a tank and definitely feels like it's built to last. That is not to say they are not comfortable, because they are! The ear pads provide a smooth seal around your ear, so long as you have medium to small ears. It is possible that they might overlap with ears on larger heads. The adjustable band makes it easy to find a great fit, too, though I must also point out this is probably designed for smaller heads, as I have to use them fully extended for my most comfortable fit and I have a medium-large size head. In terms of noise isolation, these beat the Bose QC 25, which were $300 headphones, for a fraction of the price. I guess the moral of the story is if you want noise isolation, get earmuffs and not headphones! And if you still need music in your life, just pop some in ear buds underneath. I use a pair of in ear buds under these muffs and the noise isolation improved even more. I could stick my head right next to a window air conditioner on full blast and I couldn't even hear a whisper - even with no music playing! These also look great and I feel no shame or embarrassment wearing them out in public with earbuds underneath. I think they blend right in, especially these days when pretty much half the people on the streets are walking around with their enormous over ear headphones. Fantastic product. Will order more in the future, almost definitely!
