The bamboo beads are then strung together by hand using wire to create a strand. 125 strands are then attached to a wooden hanging bar to create a bamboo beaded curtain. Finally, each bead and strand is individually hand painted producing the art you see on each beaded curtain. Since each bead is entirely painted the image is viewable on both sides of the curtain from any angle. 125 strand count provides curtain density, durability, and vivid image detail. As a child of the 70's, the sound of them, the look of a beaded curtain, gives me the warm and fuzzies. This is beautiful, well packed, and looks unbelievably real from across the room! A weird if caution though: we originally leveled the top bar and didn't notice until we stepped back that the "door" was lopsided. Easy enough fix though. But glad we installed in the inside versus the outside of the opening. I recommend using two people, with one across the room telling you when the "door" looks level, and then marking. We also didn't feel comfortable using the hooks provided and instead used screws and anchors. It's a little heavy for the hooks IMO, and over time would begin to pull out of the sheet rock. When the light is on in our closet,you can see between the beads into the closet. **Q: If my door frame isn't as wide as this, can I remove some strands from the middle to shorten it?** A: Yes you can easily shorten the width of any of our beaded curtains by simply cutting the wooden hanging bar to your desired width. To keep the design centered we would recommend cutting an equal amount from each side of the curtain to keep the design centered. With this said, if you did not want to shorten the width, it is also very common to hang a beaded curtain on the outside of the doorjamb when the curtain is larger than the opening allowing it to overlap slightly on the sides and/or top of the doorway. We would recommend you try this first before cutting the width as our beaded curtains do look very nice hung this way as well :) **Q: Does the picture show nicely on both sides of the beads?** A: I'm not really sure because the picture only really shows when the background is dark. I have the beads hanging on the doorway to my bedroom door. When I shut the bedroom door, you can see the picture nicely because there is no light behind it. But when I look at the beads from the back, there is a lot of light behind it. So, I've never seen the picture looking from the other side because there is a lot of light from that view. However the quality was less than I expected. I installed 2 sets of curtains side by side, and one set is about an inch shorter than the other.
