G5 is intended for cleaner surface application. Fader F 100 is designed for pots. It may be your best choice to fix a noisy volume control. **Q: Can it be used to clean memory slots? After dry is there a risk of residues shortening contacts?** A: I used it on contacts on my boat. Worked great. I'd be nervous spraying it into a computer port. SPRAYED IT AND SCRUBBED WITH A LOLLIPOP STICK=Turned out that it was merely OXIDIZED, NOT DISCONNECTED and that prevented adequate contact. THIS product fixed it in two minutes, and SAVED us the $100 EXPENSE!!***Best product EVER for old, staticky, crackly, dirty, or oxidized mechanical electronics--i.e. potentiometers, rheostats, switches, slides, etc. No need to bathe the target part, just a brief spray INSIDE through any access point--a vent hole, or even around the shaft/moving part (sometimes a second application when one when is needed.) Then operate the component part quickly--back and forth--from one end of the range of motion to the other a few times, and you should be golden. For REALLY badly dirty parts: those that seem as though you have no choice but to replace them, wait a day and try it again about 24 hours later...sometimes the corrosion needs to sit in this stuff for a while to get full penetration.
