They were cyborgs who had escaped from their Hurlian programmers who had captured them as children and turned them into super-soldiers. Now they only wanted what had been taken from them – a chance to fall in love and raise a family, to have what other “normal” people had.While sorting and retrieving the most recent accumulation of space junk, Axel spotted a flicker of something that moved in the debris and it snagged his attention. When they identified it as a functioning escape pod, they tracked it with their drone while discussing its possibilities. The computer verified for them that it was operational but damaged, and further, that it contained a humanoid female who was injured and almost out of oxygen. A female – this far into deep space??? Steel’s emotion chip filled him with both hope and fear – fear for the survival of the human. In space, they moved into position and provided a personal force field and ventilator for the female, quickly assessed her injuries, and had the computer transport her to the medical bay to begin treatment.Megan Mitchell woke in a quiet private room, pain-free, no injuries. She had been captured by a slaver and lived under torture and abuse from her captors. When the chance came to escape, she blew up their ship and did not hesitate to risk it all in an escape pod. Now Megan was afraid she escaped one terror for another as recognized that she was on another ship. When Steel came in, she jumped him and tried to strangle him, but he tenderly pulled her off and set her down. He told her what he could about where she was, listened to her account of her escape, told her intergalactic law would not allow her to go back to “original” Earth, and then – he kissed her! She kissed back until the memories scared her again and she yelled, “No!” And he immediately stopped! He told her all of the males on the facility would treat her with respect. Although he wanted a mate, it would be her decision. And they would protect her always. He apologized for any social skills mistake he made because he was not programmed to know that – and he told her he was a cyborg!Feeling his protectiveness surround her, she followed him to meet the other two men. After being around them all, she felt a true attraction for the three men and guilt for even looking at the other two. She didn’t understand that Steel didn’t seem jealous. But all three were caring and protective of her. She had to remain with Steel, right? He had kissed her and she kissed him. She didn’t want to cause any friction among the brothers. What would the future hold for them? And what would they do when danger found its way to them, determined to retrieve the cyborgs and destroy their female?This was a very good book. The description was done in such a way that the reader could easily draw a mental picture of the environment and unpleasantness that surrounded Megan’s captivity and drove her to her desperate escape. What the cyborgs had endured was equally vivid, so that the reader had deep compassion for these strong survivors. The pacing of the story was also good, giving the readers facts and experiences as a background for what was to come. The kindness of the cyborgs was healing to Megan as it rebuilt her trust. This is definitely a worthwhile read that will keep the reader engrossed in the story and the outcome for the true victims who only wanted love and a normal existence. These three Cyborgs live in the Swirl recovering space trash and recycle it when they spot an escape pod and their A1 tells them that this is a single life force aboard . Megan had escaped her captors by blowing up their space ship and escaping in an escape pod . Let me just say that this strong woman has experienced the worst things that can happen to a woman . I do loves this series because it shows that no matter what happens to you , you can always come out stronger than before it ever happened !
