(A dampener pad)** A: No. You can easily wear a hole though this material. This is heat shield fibers not padding. **Q: What are the dimensions? I see comments saying 8" X 4" and some say 4" X 8"** A: Width is 8" and height is 4"...works great! **Q: will this fit around a muffler that is 4" wide (will the clamps work)?** A: It fits better around just the pipes. It is not rated to sit directly on the pipe. The more it's curled the less likely it will be pressed onto the pipes. Where as, if it is curled along the length of the shield, it doesn't bend it the middle the other way. A 4" muffler is small, but I feel it would bend and sit on the muffler because the shield is not very big. Although, mine touches my pipes because I need it placed on a bend. It smelled a little at first but hasn't caught fire. **Q: Is this for a car? Will it work for front exhaust pipe on a car? ?** A: I used it on motorcycle, not sure if it would be helpful for vehicle, however in theory you could attach it easy. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great! Highly recommended! *by A***F on February 11, 2020* I own Husqvarna 701 Enduro motorcycle, original heat shield of that bike covers only rear part of exhaust pipe that runs at height of ankle and does its job real well. However when you fall off the bike and that happens on frequent basis when riding mountain single tracks pipe just burns holes in your pants melts plastic on boots and eventually you get tired of it. Melted bits on pipe do not add to aesthetics of bike. So this appeared to be perfect fix. It still gets very hot and you will not be able to hold your finger to it more than 2 seconds, however it is not hot enough to burn through things any more. And that solves my issues completely. I will add picture later. Looks good on bike.
