I can give a good review on use and set up nonetheless. I have read about some of the issues people have seen and I cannot find that any of these are true at all. I am a geek too. I have been in IT for 30 years from Administrator to Architect. I demand the best out of everything I use when it comes to technology. The monitor sets up VERY easy. It has a CD that has the drivers on it and a setup program. The program is run from the CD and the software setup is the usual installation type info boxes seen in most software installations. The OS required me to reboot two times to sync the monitor and load the driver correctly. After that the monitor came up in the exact 1 2 configuration I wanted. If I wanted to move the monitor to the left side I could have changed the 1 2 display to reverse too. It is at 1600x900 resolution with vivid colors (250,000+ colors at 18-bit). No wash out, no distortion, and no fuzziness. What happens with the color differences is that many people run the 1st monitor at 1920x1080 (or higher with a higher color bit rate) while running the AOC at the lower 1600x900 (with a lower color bit rate). The colors will look a little different then. I now run both screens at 1600x900 for a nice match up. 1600x900 is pretty decent and I am very happy with that resolution. After all this is a notebook and I am not going for high resolution.It compares to my HP Envy built in monitor....almost. In fact they look practical identical. No two monitors will ever match perfect but this is VERY close. One thing I did have to deal with was that it sits a little lower on the table than my HP ENVY notebook monitor. I use a rubber hand rest to prop it up and it looks and works great that way. My ENVY has a 17 inch screen so the match up is perfect. Another cool thing is they do include the cable and a carry case for the monitor. The cable I expected but the carry case is a nice bonus. I know nothing about the durability yet, but I will post something a year or so from now and let you all know. I expect it to handle normal carry case situations and small bumps and jolts without issue. If not, well that would be an issue.I also need to talk about the arm on the back that props up the monitor. It is very stiff and so no matter where you move it holds the monitor in place. (That is good!) It does seem a little wobbly at near vertical (That is Bad!). If the arm is pulled out at least half way it is pretty solid then. This is the one feature that could have been done differently. I would have preferred an arm in the middle that pulled out and had better angles. Something more like Microsoft's Surface but adjustable. Still, it stands up just fine. Don't let this arm be the reason you don't buy it or use it. It works great.I strongly recommend this monitor for the reasons I listed above. It really does work off just a single USB unless you have an older USB. Mine is 3.0 and it works great. I also use Windows 8.1 64-bit. My video card is a Nvidia GEforce 840M video card.UPDATE FOR 2016!!Now a year or so later and I have more comments on this monitor. It is very durable and has been hauled all over the place and bounced on the ground in a wheeled carry case. No problem there. Here is a major issue. There is no way to get this to work on a new Windows 10 server. None. I have it working on this one, but the driver was installed on Windows 8.1 and then the system upgraded. I tried to install with the latest drivers from AOC and using the Disk that came with the monitor. It will not install and causes major video issues that are a pain to fix. I fixed them, and hooked it back up to this older laptop (About 18 months old). The new Spectre is just not able to work. The instructions (AOC) admit they do not support Windows 10. Wow. There are still no drivers available from AOC and no support. I wrote them, and they do not support it is what they sent back. WOW!!!! Don't buy this unit!!! I am not dropping my 5 star rating to 3 stars. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great, would highly recommend, just make sure to download and install the most current drivers!!!! *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2016* Ok, so first things first...I am quite happy with my purchase.Great deal, can't beat a portable monitor like this for the price, just no way...My idea when I saw this was, wouldn't it be nice to have TWO external monitors??One on each side of my laptop... so I bought two.fingers crossed, I waited for them to arrive, and today they did!!!I decided to slow my roll, and set them up one at a time.So I unboxed the first monitor, used the included driver CD to install the monitor driver, plugged in the provided cable, (it is a Y connector - one connection to the monitor, and two USB connections, one ostensibly for connectivity, and one for additional power, similar to the cable one might also get with portable hard drive, or CD burner....So back to the story, plugged the monitor and it turned right on.There are no switches, buttons or anything really on these monitors. You must do all your adjustments from the display settings.So far so good, I then unboxed the second monitor, and with the first monitor still plugged in, plugged in the second...Nothin', dead, black screen....Crap.Ok, so I did all manner of troubleshooting, from switching USB ports to switching cables to rebooting, to well you get the point...I tried everything, and nothing worked...monitor was not cooperating.So I turned to the internet....scoured the manufacturer forum, scoured the relevant articles that come up when one does a search for how to setup multiple monitors... nothin....eventually, on the verge of giving up, on an article I read, someone mentioned the obvious, "go to the manufacterer website try using the most recent drivers:" So away I went, back to the manufacturer website, downloaded the drivers and presto chango, monitor is working.There is also another program available under utilities called "actual multiple monitors", but it's not free, its a 30 day trial and you don't need to run it to use these monitors, although I did install it and mess with it and there is a ton of functionality you can get by using it from changing the buttons on the taskbar to screen savers and background customization per monitor... so theres that...I should note that everything I've read on these monitors say that they are designed for USB 3.0, and while I believe that wholeheartedly, my personal laptop does not have USB 3.0 ports at all, nary a one. That said, I am able to run both monitors of one USB port each... so I am not using the second USB connector that comes attached to each cable.Overall, I am still in the honeymoon stage with these monitors and am wholeheartedly in love.... for the money you cannot beat these monitors, and while I cannot speak to just how much more productive I am going to be with my new setup, I am hopeful!!last thoughts, the included neoprene slipcovers seem sufficient for light travel, but by no means would stand up to hard or rough use, think wetsuit material, or coozy material....The monitors are also ready to mount using VESA connectors via the predrilled and tapped holes on the back. I currently have a small leather bag and I tried stuffing the two monitors and a 17' laptop with connectors and cable and everything fit just fine. laptop has the same footprint as the monitors basically...Oh shoot, one last thing...of course in my haste, I was doing all this on the couch, and of course one of the monitors slid off and hit the foot of a folding tray table popping off the front bezel and separating from from back....I was really sad, then happy again when I picked the monitor up and snapped the front and back bezel back together again, no harm no foul...So for that, I am giving these monitors five stars....Worked as described, and look great to boot, and durable in that the monitor that fell still works, and I was able to put humpty dumpty back together again and its good as new...I did buy the 3 year protection plan, for both, not sure why, I never do, but I figured these boys might be a bit more fragile and so thought the "insurance" might be worth it... you can decide if it is for you in your case... ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Product - 4 stars, but AOC customer service is really lacking. *by J***N on Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2018* First, I want to say that this monitor, while it still worked, did its job with no real issues. The two annoyances were: 1) not full HD resolution but the lower price made up for that, and 2) the cable connection is loose/flimsy on the monitor (note, it is not a USB to some other standard port but rather USB to something more proprietary).I have used this as a second monitor exclusively for work since November 2017. I travel from client to client and every single time I place it back into the provided AOC monitor sleeve, then into a laptop backpack. It started to show a barely visible line on the LCD screen beginning of July 2018. It got much worse over the course of a week to the point of the screen having ridiculous artifacts making it unusable. The product page says AOC has a 1 year warranty from date of purchase, so I contacted them and they requested pictures. I obliged and sent them photos of the monitor turned on and off.
