I purchased this kindle book along with the audible version so I could listen on my way to work. I immediately regretted my purchase after the first chapter. This book is probably good if you're in a bad work situation and just want to know you're not alone, and that there really are good places to work out there in the world. It's kind of a "misery loves company" approach where you read lots of stories about other people who are in crappy work situations.However, if, like me, you're a generally positive person that's no stranger to overcoming odds and have been stretched beyond your normally high capacity to manage a stressful work environment...you will probably be offended, not relieved, by reading a survival tip that says "stay positive"The rest of the tips in the book are basically along those lines - they remind me of those cheesy cards with the cat hanging from a tree branch that say "hang in there!" across the bottom.I was seeking strategies to manage my work environment that were a little more philosophical and thought provoking - things that go deeper than "get tough" (another inspirational greeting card tip found in the book). I was looking for something meaty and full of personal challenges to help counter the incredible intensity of my job. When your work feels so intense, it's almost more disheartening for a book to take such a flippant approach to helping you manage it.Basically it feels like the writer has interviewed a lot of people in bad work situations, but has never actually been in a really bad one themselves.
