I even had my husband try and it would not budge for him either!** A: Mine only turns in one direction. Perhaps you can try again with that in mind. Stand beside my board with the sleeve end on my left and with the cord minder attached to the ironing board on the side opposite to me, I have to push it to my right and continue around in a circle until it is parallel to the board when putting my board away. When I next use it, I just move the cord minder up clockwise until vertical. **Q: My plastic screw arrived partially stripped and stuck, has anyone replaced it with a metal screw?** A: You should probably return the unit and request a new one. The screw/bolt is under a lot of tension because it must hold the unit steady while the cord pulls and bends the rod. I had to tighten the screw/bolt on my unit several times after it was installed to keep it steady. That works well too. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tightening Bolt Upgraded to Metal *by J***I on January 6, 2025* So, when I ordered this cord keeper, I was a bit skeptical. In the product description there are three pictures of a plastic bolt used to screw the C-clamp to the ironing board, then three pictures of a metal bolt. The C-clamp is made of metal. Customers complained of the bolt stripping easily. Well, I don’t know what “engineer” decided to use a plastic bolt and use it for a threaded metal hole, all the while thinking this was going to hold the unit firmly to the ironing board. Ummm, no, that aint gonna work. However, my cord keeper came with a metal bolt, so okay, some improvement. I do have some concerns about the other plastic parts though; the top of the spring, where you must pry open the plastic “clamp” and place your cord into it. It may not last very long if you open and close it often IMHO. By the way folks, the iron cord is not supposed to slide at the top of the keeper, that is the purpose of the spring, plus, don’t forget to place your cord into the ‘Z” at the bottom by the spring. Also, the bottom where the spring is attached to…yep, plastic. All in all this keeper will work until it doesn’t. Hopefully, it will last a longish time. I suggest the company look deeply into some corrective actions to beef up the plastic pieces, this could be an excellent good cord keeper if that was done.
