I give the content 5 stars, and the formatting a 2, and am giving it only 3 stars, making it simply average.I purchased a 1993 hardcopy of “Little Things Long Remembered”, many years ago, and it is a beautifully put together book. The jacket on the book is inviting, beckoning to be picked up and paged through. It is a delightful read, and creatively put together. The pages contain a design at the top of almost every page, and there are adorable sketches throughout. The 2014 Paperback Edition is mundane in comparison.I purchased four copies of the 2014 book in paperback (there is no 2014 edition in hardback), to give as baby shower gifts, but I now regret my decision to purchase them. At the baby showers held her in the Midwest, each gift is passed around for viewing. At a shower this weekend, the 2014 book was basically lost in the shuffle, and will probably be placed upon a shelf. Had I purchased the 1993 Hardback, it would have been looked at, discussed, and the new parents would probably put it on the coffee table in their living room, to look at, enjoy, and glean ideas from. I sadly fear, that since the 2014 paperback is so ordinary in appearance, that it will easily be cast aside, instead of being utilized and read with anticipation. I understand it is cheaper to bind and sell paperback books, but I really think doing so with “Little Things Long Remembered”, was an injustice to Susan Newman, the author, and to all of the parents who might otherwise have benefited from reading the book.The reason I did not search diligently to purchase four copies of the 1993 hardcopy book, is because the 2014 edition is geared for the more modern life. I think it was a mistake to purchase the 2013 copies. If I could trade in my remaining three 2014 editions for three 1993, I would gladly give those as gifts instead. I strongly recommend the book be re-published as a hardback. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great book, arrived damaged *by A***L on Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2018* I recieved this book when my first child was born. Absolutely loved it. It was a hardcover. Now the new edition is a soft cover. I like the book so much I found another hard cover so both my kids will have a copy when they are adults. I bought this book to give to a friend who is having a baby shower. I like to tie the book to a finished crochet baby blanket. This book is the first paperback that I have purchased. I was disappointed because the last page was bent and completely folded in the back. The front corner of the book looked like it had something on it. I know this is being picky but it looked like a used book and I bought it brand new. It is a gift for someone and it should be in perfect condition. I am sending it back and have ordered a replacement. I am so glad that I came across them onAmazon and ordered them. I only wish I had had these books to use when my children were little about 45yrs. ago. After I finished reading this one, I hated to give it up, but I did send it to my daughter who lives inAlaska with her two daughters, age 2 and 3. I have no doubt that she will enjoy this book and use some ofthe suggestions written within the book. She is a teacher up there in a small remote Eskimo village, and hastaught school up there for about 14 yrs. I thought this book would be a wonderful gift to send her, so I didjust that.
