I use it with ACAD work, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. It certainly makes things quicker than the 4 core CPU I had before. If you are working to put together a mid-range graphics workstation, this CPU will work well in the system. As you have noticed this is a LGA1366 socket, so you should be able to get a reasonably price mainboard. But as with all graphics work, a great graphics card will also be needed as well as plenty of RAM. Putting your system together maybe more reasonably priced than a new MAC and this CPU will give you the added benefit that you will be able to overclock this to more than 4 GHz, which is a plus with any work. I upgraded my four core system with this six core and am really satisfied with how well and how much quicker things work. If you already have a MAC and you'd like to upgrade the processor, I would recommend it. The price is great and the upgrade may lengthen the life of your system for a few more years.
