I'ved used close to a thousand of them - each and every pack has been very effective and none has failed to work. A good technique is filling and sealing multiple bags most of the way, keeping only a few inches open at one end to allow insertion of the O2 absorbers. Once they're all prepped, you can very quickly open a 10-pack, put however many you need in the first bag, seal it, and move on to the next. Even when doing multiple bags, for which you'll end up using the end of one 10-pack and opening another, the bottom line is still that they are exposed for a minimal amount of time before they're sealed in a bag. I figure how many I need prior to opening any, then rather than save 3 or 4, i just put an extra one or two in the last few buckets. I also prefer a broad surface hair straightener over an clothing iron. Tried both many times. Just my preference. Works great on his 7.5 mil 5-gallon bags.If you're storing a lot of food, consider the 1,000 bulk pack from his website if you can't find on amazon. I store excess, still in the factory sealed 10-packs, in 7.5 mil 1-gallon mylar bags (5-gal 7.5 milbags from discountmylarbags, 1-gal 7.5 mil bags from sorbent systems). Can fit 200 per 1-gal bag. Each 10 pack had a separate indicator and they were all pink (good). When 10 packs were opened, the bag indicator turned purple (indicating contact with oxygen), and the Oxygen absorbers that I didn't use turned warm after a while (also good). Some that I had left out in the open for a week became hard/rigid (another good sign). So it seems like these were working.
