We used to buy those double or even triple decker scratchers from Target - you know, the cute ones that only last a week when you have FIVE cats. I got tired of fixing the roof or the siding of those flimsy houses and decided to invest in something better. I didn't want to spend a crazy amount, given the cats have a very large, ballin' ass tree already. They love it. But when you have so many Wet Food Fiends running your life, you find yourself scrolling through the cat category on Amazon and bombarding your partner with links to various scratchers.I was initially hesitant that this wouldn't hold up. We have quite a few chonks in our midst, and their fat has definitely caused a roof collapse in the past. Seriously - it looked like a tornado blew through their little taco shack. After a pretty quick assembly, this baby was up and running. I was immediately impressed by the quality of the cardboard. It's very thick and holds up well. You don't have to worry about using any sticky peel-off tape to connect sides like you do on those flimsy houses. This bad boy can withstand three cats running, jumping, and absolutely zooming at insane speeds all at the same time. I have no idea what kind of science is behind this, but it works, and thank goodness for that. I am SO tired of handing out eviction notices and assembling new homes for them every other week.I was also concerned that this scratcher would be a bit too tiny. It's actually the perfect size for them to easily jump on top and scratch the sides as they please. We have it located right next to our work-from-home desk and it falls just below that, height wise. The cats can now relax and distract me from working at the same time! It's a win/win. The interior is surprisingly large enough to fit two cats in one space, as seen in one of the attached photos. **Please note that only one cat is allowed to be chunky in order for the two-in-one ratio to apply. I imagine if you have kittens, at least four can snuggle comfortably in one cubby. Cats or kittens alike can run and do back flips off this baby at 3am without any issues.Finally, it's really cute. It's just f*cking adorable. The heart paw print? The sight of your furry little demons curled up together in their little townhome? The cardboard is extra sturdy and was fine when he jumped on it while it was free stranding (it's against my desk now).I love the ease of putting it together--no adhesives required! **The only tricky bit is getting the two middle supports in. I needed a partner to push on the far wall so I could get it through all the way.**But I think that's a good thing because it's keeping the walls firmly in place.The only thing I changed was taking out one of the middle floor scratcher pieces and putting it down as a 'doormat' instead. Otherwise he has can only change levels by going outside.
