The bottoms are kind of hard and soft at the same time in the best of ways for a baby. They're flexible but also have enough grip for standing or walking. My only issue is that the hole for getting baby's foot in isn't quite large enough. It's hard to put on a squirmy baby. The elastic band is a little too tight and hard to stretch out enough to get on her foot.
