The phone locks into the mount by simply pressing it into place. Once in there, it would definitely be fine for a smooth and tough ride already. But once locked in, you secure it even further with the rubber straps. Constantly having to rotate back to desired position due to holder not staying in original setting. The extra support strap is nice, holding phone in place.
