Since we're working to keep up the local songbird population this can be a problem :-) We don't have ringneck doves in our region, but based on the local dove and pigeon responses, this seed should be fine for them. Note: if you are feeding domesticated ringneck doves, I think you could find a seed or seed mix that would be more specifically tailored just for them - but in the wild, this seed mix should satisfy them along with other species. **Q: Would this work if mixed 50/50 with regular birdseed?** A: I would do 75/25 with the 75 being the sizzle n heat. I tried 50/50 and the squirrels went for it like it was regular seed. If you do mix, I recommend mixing VERY well and maybe add cayenne powder **Q: Is this ok to feed the daily chipmunks that skitter on the deck? I lost a couple of feeders to a hungry bear a couple of years ago and I was told that using bird food treated with hot pepper will stop them. Birds don't mind the pepper because they have different taste buds than mammals. So I replaced the feeder and set up a trail camera to see what I might record. That first night with the trail cam, I got a video of the black bear lumbering up to the feeder probably thinking he'd have another easy snack. The feeder was hanging about 4 feet off the ground so he got underneath it and put his nose up to smell it and quickly turned away! So for the last few years all I use is bird seed like this that is treated. I also use hot pepper suet in all my suet feeders. The birds are happy and I have a great selection of different ones who I enjoy watching.
