It does have a place in my overall BBQ toolbox, but not something that I'll use on every cook.I like using it for foods like asparagus. I did get some char, but didn't have to worry about them falling through the grate (easier than using bamboo skewers, which was my old method for keeping them from falling through), so was a good compromise. Like others have commented, juices tend to puddle, so if you're trying for a crispy texture on the food, be mindful of this. I did some chicken parts that had been brined/marinated. Big puddles formed on the mat during the cook and eventually the juices ran into the fire, causing flare ups. See picture.Despite the hype of the videos with "chefs" using this mat on the grill, I would NEVER cook a steak on this thing - you'd never get a good crust on it due to all the juices puddling up. It'd be more like braised than grilled. That being said, you can use this characteristic to advantage to cook foods in a sauce by basting. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ In my first month of used is work great. After appoximately 10 uses it developed a small tear while being scrubbed clean in the sink. That hole got much worse with the subsequent 2 uses and cleanings and now has a large hole that makes it unusable. Dissapointed it wasn't more durable.
