Something that would hold up to the rigors of a first responder. This isn’t it. Pelican has a reputation for the best quality equipment cases but they fell flat on this phone case.First the positive:The case is bulky, they claim triple the milspec drop height and I can believe that if it falls on a corner or edge or the back of it falls on a flat surface. The carbon fiber back is stylish and attractive. It easily accommodates a screen protector (not included). The case is easy to install. Two halves and three snap latches secure it. There are port covers for the lightning port and silence switch. The volume and wake buttons are positive and easy to activate. The clip on the belt clip allows you to lock it open to use as a kickstand. Lifetime warranty.The negative:The case is slick, not only the back but the surrounding frame, it’s difficult to hold onto with one hand. I recon if you like pop sockets, you won’t have an issue sticking one on the back. The case halves are not tight. The case creaks and flexes which is annoying. The belt clip is really disappointing. The spring for the belt clip is really weak, don’t even think about running with it on your belt, it will flop and come off. It’s easily dislodged getting in & out of a vehicle. The clip that holds the phone in the holster is also somewhat weak, there’s no provision to lock the phone in the holster. And no means of locking the belt clip on your belt. The three stainless fasteners that you see on the back are merely decorations and serve no purpose. Why waste the money for useless decorations?Overall the case will protect your phone like any other but it doesn’t live up to the Pelican reputation. It will serve me until something better comes along. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love this case. Seem to hold up better than the three Otterbox cases I had. *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2019* I wanted to wait a while to write this review. I bought this case even though there was a handful of bad reviews for it. I have a Large 45 Qt Pelican Cooler and also Pelican Tumblers. Their products stand up to the test of time. Their coolers hold ice for a really long time along with their tumblers. I have had this phone case for 5 months now and it has not let me down at all. I owned three different styles of Otterbox cases before this. While they all did a nice job of protecting my phone minus one model and also have a good warranty they seemed to wear out pretty quickly over time. I wont go into crazy details but i had to replace multiple defender cases because the outside rubber layer would stretch out. This Pelican case has some dings and dents in it now from me dropping it on pavement or throwing it around but it still fully intact. The three clips on the phone that add extra protection for the case to stay together I think was a smart addition. The last Otterbox I had was one of their new designs. I threw my phone once and the case separated while my phone landed on the floor out of the case with the screen shattered. If Otterbox had these same style clips on their case this would not have happened. Phone cases do not last forever and these days we get new phones every few years, for some of us even more often than that. I think I have put this case through enough trauma in the past 5 months to say that it is better than any Otterbox I have owned and even if it fails Pelican is known for their excellent warranty.Update: 1/22/2020. : The case is over 2 years old now. It’s pretty banged up in spots but still doing it’s job and keeping my phone safe. Can’t complain. Better than any Otter-box I have owned. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tough case but a little slippery *by P***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2019* So like many other reviewers noted this case provides a lot of protection for your XR. I have many other Pelican products including phone cases and they never disappoint--I've had good luck with all of their stuff. I gave it 4 stars for two reasons, 1) the case itself is just a little slippery, especially the back panel. The side grips are slippery too but not as bad. I actually scuffed them up a little and the grippiness improved. 2) The bottom rubber tab that covers the charging port would not stay closed. Not a big deal because the phone itself is already rated for water resistance so it's really not needed (it's more to keep the dust out?). I always cut these little tabs off anyway because it's annoying to me to have to open them to plug in my charging cable.
