Review: Not just for umbilical hernias - works for abdominal incisional hernias too - I have an incisional hernia from an abdominal operation scar that is 3 or 4 inches (75-100mm) above the belly button. Because of the nature of the operation, the chances of a successful mesh repair are low so I am dependent on abdominal support. I have tried others but they don't work well enough to prevent the hernia from protruding. This one does. It contains a circular firm pad backed up by a stiffener that will reduce the hernia. It does up with velcro and it's elasticated so you can adjust it for the fit you need. (Don't over-tighten it) It's easiest to put on with help because the pad section has to held in place while the belt is passed around your body to fasten. But you CAN do it on your own: Option 1 is to fix the pad to the velcro strip on the belt, reduce the hernia with your hand and place the pad over it. Now stand with your tummy against a vertical surface like a wall to hold the belt in place to free your hands to pass the belt around you and fasten it. I know.... sounds daft, doesn't it? But it works! Option 2 is for the more supple of us. It uses the same technique as Option 1 to position the pad. But then you need to swing those hips to flip the loose end of the belt behind you so you can grab it with your free hand. Again, it's a bit daft and takes a bit of practice but it works and it will keep the other members of your family entertained - although they could just help you! I haven't marked the product down because of this issue because you can't escape the fact that the belt has to go all the way around you. It's simply common sense. The price is very reasonable and I like it so much that I've ordered another so that I can at least air, if not wash them.

**Q: I need the larger size but can only find the standard size!?!?**

**Q: My hernia is at the left side of my lower abdomen.  Will this belt work for me?**
A: In my opinion, I think it would. It's very wide and very easy to adjust, plus the disc in there that can be repositioned can be placed wherever you need it. Just first put the belt on and get it as tight as you need, then put your hand under it and use other hand to place the disc over the hernia and it should be fine. I think this is a great product.

**Q: I have a 5 inch complex hernia in my abdominal line. It is about 2 inches below and 3 inches above my belly button. Will this belt work?**
A: The photo on the model shows the outside fit accurately. The middle midline has a 7 1/2 inch velcro strip that will let the wearer adjust the up-down position of a 3 inch long, 2 1/2 inch wide little "hill" to push into a midline hernia about that size. It is ovoid with a maximum height of 1 inch. 

If the bowel or liver that comes out of the hernia is stuck out over the edge of the fascia any compression belt and especially this design could cut off circulation to said innards. Be careful, be sure nothing stays outside the edges of the hernia. Also while it adjusts a couple inches or so up down it is one size fits all.

Finally I would not wear this with the "hill" protruding into a midline or midline hernia repair. I had mine repaired recently and use this and other belts as a flat support.

**Q: Is this ergonomic hernia belt safe for abb excercises?**
A: I actually own this belt and I wear it to the gym every time I go -- I wouldn't go without it. The plastic spine pieces are hardly in the way compared to how well this holds everything in. Most hernia belts I find recently are so flimsy they barely hold a bandage in place. This one actually holds everything in place.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent support for large umbilical hernia

I have a large umbilical hernia and another medical condition which means surgeons don’t want to fix it until they absolutely have to as the operation would be life threatening. Therefore I’ve had to live with the hernia for three and a half years waiting for my medical condition to improve. I have tried many belts that have all proved uncomfortable and struggle to retain the hernia. This one is comfortable and actually works. Very happy to have bought it. It’s a little bulky and if you want to wear skinny fit t shirts then you can notice it. However if you wear something more baggy you can’t see it. At the end of the day you have a hernia, you are not going to win a body beautiful contest. Very good product.
