I thought that was very cool.If your electronic dog does not work properly, contact the seller to discuss your options and positioning. I have not found this item to work well through glass doors with aluminum frames.This item does not work well through metal as the sensor rays bounce off metal and give erroneous responses. Also, a raft floating around in the pool can set it off. A stable working environment and correct sensor positioning is important for best effect. Mine work through solid wood doors but you must avoid having the sensor including door hinges in the sensor field. **Q: My alarm barks every 1 to 5 minutes even though no one is there, how do I stop it?** A: The units are faulty and I have done everything recommended by the manufacturer to straighten out mine and it's it's in my basement collecting dust.
