## Description

From the Manufacturer KRK VXT4+ enlarge imageKRK VXT4 Features:ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) Foam EnclosureHigh density / low resonance material giving improved structural integrity and rigidity resulting in an extended low-end response. Allows the internal design to have complex shapes and non-parallel walls, increasing rigidity and reducing internal nodes. ABS also has extremely high impact resistance and excellent damping characteristics which reduces cabinet resonance.Front Firing Radiused / Non-parallel PortsFacilitates the smooth passage of air molecules which reduces port turbulence at high signal pressure levels. Front ring to avoid wall / corner coupling.Radiused Enclosure EdgesEliminating diffraction and phase distortion results in improved imaging characteristics as well as a wider sweet spot at the monitoring position.Silk Domed TweeterThe domed tweeter is comprised of true silk for fast transient response. Silk construction reduces ear fatigue and the tweeter waveguide geometry ensures HF directivity.Woven Kevlar ConeThe inter-molecular hydrogen bonds of Kevlar give the cone high tensile strength for it's light weight. Kevlar also maintains its strength and resilience over a wide temperature range. The lightweight and resilient properties of Kevlar reduces distortion and delivers extended low-end performance as compared to cones made from paper or polypropylene.Proprietary Woofer DesignThe aluminum pole and vented formers remove heat and reduce the e ects of power compression ensuring audio performance is consistent and does not deteriorate over time.HF and LF ControlsAdjustment of the LF response is provided to allow compensation for room response and desktop positioning. Adjustment of the HF is provided to compensate for room acoustics or to reduce ear fatigue when listening for extended durations.Multiple Protection CircuitryThermal, over voltage and over-current circuitry is employed in the design. There is also a switchable limiter which will protect the unit from transients in the signal path.Ground LiftAllowing the disconnection of the ground terminal to help resolve issues such as hum and buzz caused by ground loops in poorly con gured power systems.OverviewDrawing upon the design characteristics of our Expose E8B, the new VXT Series of monitors consists of three models, the VXT4, VXT6, and VXT8. With a visually striking enclosure design that is equally functional, providing low resonance, improved structural integrity and extended low-end, slotted ports for reduced port turbulence, plus a sleek curvature that provides excellent imaging characteristics and a widersweet spot the VXT monitors achieve a new level of precision. The domed tweeter (comprised of true silk for fast transient response) and the new woofer design (with its stiffer, lighter cone that provides low distortion and extended low-end) both have vented formers to remove heat and reduce the effects of power compression, enabling these monitors to maintain their sonic signature. With uncompromising attention to detail that includes tamper resistant switch covers, integrated Omni Mount support and more, the VXT Series is an outstanding choice for a broad range of monitoring applications. At KRK, our focus has always been to make the most accurate studio monitors available at any price. So when you use a VXT powered monitor, you can be confident that you get the most accurate reproduction of your mix. VXT's diffraction-limiting curved surfaces, silk-domed tweeter, seamless crossover, and KRK's trademark yellow Kevlar woofer bring superior audio imaging, outstanding transient response, and amazing detail. For over 20 years, KRK has mastered the art of recording monitors, and the VXT is the culmination of this art. Listen for yourself, and believe!Radical curves for better imaging. The molded shape of the VXT allows for radically curved surfaces that sound better. Traditional rectangular speakers suffer from diffraction as sounds leaving the edge of the cabinet are reflected back into the sound field causing phase distortion. The VXT virtually eliminates diffraction and delivers excellent imaging characteristics and a much wider sweet spot. There are no discontinuous elements to create diffraction.Ports Where They Belong. Take a look at competitive monitors and you'll find ports on the back of the cabinet. These rear-firing ports tend to create bass coupling with walls and corners amplifying low frequency information which will color your mix. The superior design of the KRK VXT include front-firing ports, which are just the right shape to reduce port turbulence. You'll appreciate the clean and accurate bass performance this approach delivers, even at high SPLs.The VXT uses high-tech ABS Structural Foam in its cabinet. This material is very rugged and extremely impact resistant, and makes it possible for KRK engineers to create a speaker with no internal parallel walls, thereby preventing sound-coloring internal nodes. This material also has far better damping characteristics than traditional speaker materials which eliminates coloration caused by cabinet resonance.Revolutionary materials, Revolutionary Sound. The new, stiffer, lighter woofer cone has an extruded aluminum pole piece and vented formers. This improves transient response, reduces distortion and extends low-frequency response due to this lighter, stiffer cone. The aluminum pole piece and venter formers eliminate overheating which improves performance.Catch A Wave, For A 3D Mix Our recessed silk-domed tweeters provide amazing high-end detail. Our careful design of dome and waveguide geometry coupled to the curved front baffle are optimized for on and off-axis linearity resulting in excellent imaging and a wider sweet spot.SpecificationsConfiguration: 2-WaySystem type: Active Studio MonitorLow-Frequency: 4" Woven Kevlar wooferHigh-Frequency: 1" soft dome tweeterFrequency Response: 66Hz - 22kHz (+/- 3dB)Max Peak SPL: 107 dBAmplifier Class: Class A-BPower Output: 45WHigh Frequency: 15WLow Frequency: 30WInput Impedance (Ohms): 10 K Ohm balancedSystem Volume: (-30dB - +6dB)Auto Mute: (on / off)Indicators: Power, Clip, LimitIndicator Control: Clip Indicator (On / Off / Limit)Input Connectors: Balanced 1/4"/XLR Combo Ground Lift: On / OffAC Power Input: Selectable 110V-120V / 220V-240V (50Hz - 60Hz) or 100V (50Hz - 60 Hz) Enclosure Construction: Structural FoamFinish: Black Textured PaintPort Configuration: Front firing slot portGrille: OptionalMounting: BottomCompatable OmniMount: 20.5 WBXDimensions (H x W x D): 10" (254mm) x 7.34" (186mm) x 7.48" (190mm)Weight: 14 Lbs. 100% Solution for RF interference

*by B***B on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2020*

I tried everything, but *the* solution is to get a can of Spray Shield, a nickel spray "paint", and spray the inside of the speaker case.tools: metric allen keys, long phillips head screwdriver, rubber mallet, small vac or maybe a hairdryer toi blow out dust1, remove only the 10 screws *along the edge* of the back of the speaker... the others hold stuff onto the back panel2. use a long screwdriver in through the port on the front and a rubber mallet to tap out the back panel. set on side.3. remove speaker cable to woofer. connectors are different sizes, so you wont confuse them later. r4, remove fabric sound baffle... its glued in, so try tnot to loose too much of it... ended up with a few wisps,. Note which way it goess back in5,remove cable to front lights. note which way it goes in.. disconnected pin is donw/left i think.4. unscrew 3 screws on triangular plastic bracket which holds tweeter. remove. i did not disconnect that cablke.5.remove 4 screws on front. mallet /screwdriver trick helps with getting that out too.6.remove 4 screws around woofer, then remove.7.peel 10 foam strips off. i. managed to keep 8 intact.8. 4 screws around little led light panel, remove. may need screwdriver to pop it off. 2 screws on tube shaped air port. pop. done.9. prep for panting.damp cloth and a tiny vacuum worked for me.10. wear protective goggles, gloves, and a face mask, be outside. shake well and spray to coat inside surfaces of speaker.11. let dry for 24-48hrs.12. return the way you came.takes about 3-4 hours, spray shield is about $25,Zero noise since.

    Inconsistent product quality

*by C***Y on Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2012*

I've worked for a pro audio company and still work for a consumer audio company as an engineer. I purchased 2 of these from Amazon. When I got them, one speaker buzzed (very low, soft buzzing) with only power connected, no audio connected. The other did not, even when using the same power connections. Amazon was wonderful and replaced the buzzing speaker, but the replacement also buzzed. At this point I contacted the manufacturer and was issued an RMA that took about 6 weeks to fulfill. When I got the RMA item back, it was not the same serial number (in fact it had no serial number on it at all) and had the same buzzing issue. I contacted the manufacturer (now Gibson) and was given a textbook troubleshooting response which demonstrated that they didn't understand the problem since they told me to do things with the audio connection - yeah, no audio connected guys. I even provided spectrum analysis showing the differences in behavior. Most disappointing in all of this is that the manufacture didn't make an actual repair with the RMA. Did they test and understand the problem? They admitted there was an issue by providing me an RMA and now again has given me a second RMA for this speaker. This time, the manufacturer wants me to pay for the RMA shipping... so as you can imagine I am not pleased at all when the speaker weighs a good 30lbs (shipping $$$).Want to like these speakers, but it seems the manufacturer has no idea how to repair/verify their own product. Run away. However, if you do plan on getting the speakers, test them critically for the buzz, seems hit and miss on the product. Good luck. Will try to return them at this point if I can. Sad face.UPDATE:Amazon accepted a return, however charged for the more-than-30-days-since-purchase, so I'm out $180 (2x$90) restocking fee + my time because of this manufacturer's inability to ensure product quality. Was actually surprised Amazon charged a restocking fee in this case, but well, lessons learned. So, if you get defective speakers try a replacement, and if it doesn't work out, return them immediately - don't deal with the manufacturer.

    KRK VXT 8 Review

*by G***2 on Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2011*

I purchased a pair of these in Dec 2010 and the VXT8 is everything I hoped for. My mixes really cut thru and revealed all my past mistakes in mixing on my old system! Plenty of bass (had 12 inch woofers in the past), but very controlled and not boomy, and the mids and highs sound great to me. Make sure to get good stands too, as these things are heavy. They are very loud too!!! Connected to my Alesis Masterlink, I can barely turn them up to an equivalent dial setting of 1.5 or 2. They totally rock and every CD I listen to now, seems to have a new element to it, even stuff I have listened to for 40 years or more. The clarity has helped me to figure out nuances in musical passages that have eluded me in the past. I am totally stoked over these babies. Make sure you break them in for 100 hours or so and you will notice how much smoother they become across the audio spectrum. I have been playing for over 45 years and recording for over 30 years so you can relax and take this review to the bank!!!
