I generally take my vehicles to professionals to have any work done but after seeing a $500 price tag to replace with OEM struts at the dealership ($200 per strut and $100 in labor), I opted to do the work myself. Having no prior experience with this type of replacement, the install took all of about 5 minutes. I seriously couldn't believe how easy the replacement was. I used a ladder to support the weight of the door while I popped off the old support struts and popped on the new ones. The only tool required for the install is a flat-head screwdriver to release the clips that hold the original struts in place. I can't attest to the longevity of the new support struts given that I just installed them but am super pleased with initial performance, price, and ease of install. Seriously, save yourself hundreds of dollars with these bad boys. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Super Strong Replacements *by B***1 on Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2020* I replaced the tailgate struts on my 2013 4 Runner with these Strongarm lift supports. Simple install with a flat bladed screwdriver. My rear hatch flies up now - so much so it now hits my garage door (needed to put some pads on it.) Much stronger that the factory units they replaced. I am confident these would have no problem lifting a hatch with a ladder installed on it. Toyota still needs to offer an automatic lift-gate - maybe the 2030 model will finally get that. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Value *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2019* One of the OEM lift supports on my 2015 4Runner completely failed in the middle of a major road trip. I checked with several Toyota dealerships while I was on the road but none of them had the OEM part in stock and quoted a price of $197 per strut and about $100 to install. The StrongArm after market for $39 for the pair and it was a 5 minute install. A perfect fit and even better lift assist than the OEM parts. Saved my self $460.
