They would be very good gloves on there own without the heating element for the price. I wore them outside in 25 degree weather and unlike my other insulated work gloves that after 20 minutes my fingers were frozen and painful these gloves a hour later kept my fingers from getting froze and had no pain. I bought rechargable batteries and regular alkaline batteries as backups.When you are indoors and you plug the gloves in, you can feel the heat on the back of your hands and after a while your hands feel nice and toasty. Walking outside, that toasty feeling goes away but your hands are unquestionably warm.But when riding in 56 degree weather, the loss of heat from the gloves is instantly noticeable. By noon I had unplugged one glove and for the rest of the day noticed no difference. When we stopped and rested I would feel the powered glove warm up, so the batteries were still good.In short, there is a reason that heated gloves can cost $80 to $150 dollars.
