These brakes are wide so if your frame is small, it is possible that your heel could strike the rear brake while pedaling. **Q: Can I use long pull levers with these?** A: Yes, you can use short or long pull levers on these. It will change how sensitive the brakes are, but that doesn't matter much, and they will work best with long pull levers (that's how I have them set up on my bike). **Q: What is the appropriate replacement brake shoe? It looks more like a v brake set up than traditional cantilever.** A: These are more like a cantilever/cyclocross brake – not like a V-brake as much. Most standard road-bike Shimano or Tektro brake pads (shoes) will work (other brands too: Jagwire, SwissStop, etc. Not Campagnolo!).
