The top coating of the coiled cord on one of them has shed but there’s another layer of insulation and the cord doesn’t coil so well anymore (See attached photo of mic from 2015) . That said I still use them both without issue. I purchased two more of these because I use then an all my cameras. I originally got these for scratch audio, but they work very well for shooting an event where persons need to speak directly to camera. I would recommend these in a heartbeat. For reference I owned Shure VP83 Lens Hopper mics and sold them because in my opinion these sounded better for much less money.
