Limited space under the counter** A: Be careful to make sure you mounts the threads properly, then it will screw on, otherwise you risk destroying the arrester and/or your adapter. The problem is likely just the lack of access to push it on properly while you screw at the same time as it’s a tight fit. **Q: Do you have to fit it so the arrester is in the vertical position ?** A: I don’t know if that is the correct position but mine is fitted at 45 degrees due to position of pipes and space and it works fine all the banging stopped **Q: Does this need descaling or Maintenance? It seems like it is no longer performing as a year ago.** A: Hi. I would consider myself a very good DIYER not a tradesman. In my opinion(humble), if it is not performing, just replace it with a new one. No point in messing around, there is no maintenance.. Look at the old one. If it is not working correctly try and get it replaced under warranty. Also, if you are doing the work yourself, I would recommend using Jet Lube on compression fittings and threads. Having to work at home due to Covid19, this what seemed constant banging in the pipes was too much! Bought this product, drained the cold water system completely to remove any air throughout the house (Google water hammer fix - had tried this before but hammer came back quickly), fitted this product under the sink as was easier than back of washing machine, then refilled water system. First few times used the washing machine noise was better but could still hear it. Couple of weeks in I put my washing on this morning and no noise what so ever, water hammer from washing machine solved!
