I used these for two girls for ballet. They are both about 5'4" and had no trouble doing their ballet dance in this. I would say if you were any shorter, it might be a little long to run in. I could have made a nicer fuller one with my own tulle and elastic for less of the cost of this one, but I didn't have the time to put into making it as it was a last minute addition to my costume. I bought the black tutu and it fit a bit small, even though the size chart clearly states it should fit me fine, so consider buying a size up, you can always safety pin it to be tighter if it is too loose. The slip inside the tutu was white, while the tutu itself and the outer layer of the slip were black. I was afraid the inner white layer would show through badly but it was fine. The slip is also very restrictive and kept riding up my rump all night, perhaps that's the reason it fit a bit too tightly was the slip itself. I also don't care for how they have sewn the tulle onto the slip and elastic. It's in chunky sections, so it you don't keep it fluffed out well it will have bare areas that you can see the black outer layer of the slip through and not actual tulle. I thought it would be longer as well, but it is really only reached mid thigh if that. bit short for my comfort as a big thick girl. I was hoping it would go to my knees, but I wore legging with it and it was fine enough. I ordered red, so the first lining was red satin under the tulle, and the second was white satin for against the legs. This should prevent snagging on tights worn under the skirt, or catching on the tights as they walk around. Overall very pleased.Follow up to this review - I returned one for a larger size. It was so easy to return & within the week I had the replacement. I bought the 3x and it fit perfectly!My only minor complaints are that when it arrived, it smelled like rotten fish or something (gross!), and the material of the skirt was pretty rough and scratchy (not what I expected).The fish smell I got rid of by washing it twice and letting it air out. The smell was gone after a couple days. The scratchy material does not touch your skin, because there's two layers of a slip or whatever underneath the skirt. So, the unpleasant feeling of the material is only on the outside.Overall, I'm content with this purchase.
