## Description

Unity Hakone Matte Black Tetsubin Teapot/Wood Stove Humidifier. The Hakone Teapot is an elegant cast iron tetsubin teapot inspired by highly prized Japanese antique teapots still in use today. It's large 3 liter capacity and robust construction makes it uniquely suited for use as a wood stove humidifier, as well as it's traditional use of heating water for tea. The glass enamel lined interior makes it rust-resistant and easy to clean.

Review: Your next family heirloom. - The star ratings are a bit vague in that one could certainly acknowledge that this kettle is easy to clean, giftable, and warm. If you choose to undermine seasoning your teapot by leaving the trace sedimentary residue left behind from actually brewing tea in it, its easy to clean. It's cast iron coated with porcelain enamel. In regards to giftability, certainly. If your intentions are to gift someone a teapot that they could pass down generation to generation, buy it. The idea behind a gift has a lot less to do with the item itself rather than the gifter and the giftee in my opinion. I could gift someone a pack of gum but I don't need a review or anything else for that matter to tell me how the gift was received. As for "warmth", well, I've never used or heard of a teapot that brewed hot tea without adding heat so yeah, its warm. My personal take on this specific teapot is simple. I purchased and received precisely what I was looking for at a price that I was agreeable to pay. The following were my prerequisites: • Durability - One might have to actually try and break it but, why? I'm rough on things but I won't be smashing any teapots with my smith's hammer anytime soon. • Functionality - I bought it to keep on our wood stove throughout the winter months to serve as a humidifier as well as always having hot water available to brew tea, make coffee, oats, or whatever may require it. • Volume - There are 5 of us in our immediate family. A tiny teapot simply would not do. This teapot is 3L. Unless you go through the majority of your day drinking tea perpetually, you won't be topping of the water too often. Besides, I wouldnt attempt to heat anything much larger on a wood stove. This specific style or type (Hakone) is modeled after traditional teapot designs that have been heirlooms in Japanese families for many years. The manufacturer Old Dutch has a great reputation for cast iron products. For me, the type and manufacture met my personal quality standards and in turn resulted in my purchase. I was not disappointed and I remain very pleased with it. This is a durable quality item that I suspect I will get a lifetime of use from.
Review: Wonderful teapot! - This teapot looks really nice and holds a decent amount of tea. It doesn't drip when pouring. The handle stays cool. It's easy to fill, pour and clean. I use a tea light candle warmer with mine (2 candles) and it keeps the tea nice and hot for hours at a time (I use the Stonebriar long burning tea light candles - also purchased from desertcart). I follow the instructions given by the manufacturer and rinse it out with hot water from my kitchen faucet while the pot is still warm, then thoroughly dry it and so far no rusting. I believe it will last a long, long time if I continue to take care of it properly. The strainer that comes with it works great. The handle did come disassembled, but my daughter's boyfriend was able to insert the handle for me (it just look a bit of strength to get it into the holes). If you don't have a fair amount of strength and don't have someone to help you, I wouldn't recommend this teapot since getting the handle in would be impossible for someone like me (a 56 year old woman, without a lot of strength). Otherwise, it's a really nice teapot and I highly recommend it!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works so great I’m back to edit my review
*by L***R on January 20, 2020*

My tea pot arrived and it is beautiful. We love tea in this house. so it has had to be a workhorse mostly on top my wood stove night and day all winter. Originally I never gave it a good enough rating because I thought it never came with the stainless steel infuser as I thought it was supposed to have one. It is such high quality and so nice I did not send it back and I am glad about that. This size kettle was not supposed to come with a diffuser. Now I am glad that I read It wrong when I ordered it. Unlike the others, it is a large special run size not like those tiny tea pots that don’t let you enjoy tea all morning because they only brew two cups this one brews better than twice as much as those little suckers and I use it loose leaf and strain it later as I keep it at a slow simmer. If you like tea and want a sturdy way to brew it up, this gets the job done on gas wood and electric. I have used it plenty on both wood and propane. Perfect tea every time. No problems at all
