Philips Circline Fluorescent 22-Watt T9 cool white light bulb is ideal for use in garages, basements and workshops. It provides a cool white light that is ideal for a work-like environment. All fluorescent lamps need a small amount of mercury to operate efficiently and Philips has been working hard to reduce the mercury levels. We have always believed that a product can be good for the environment and provide the same or superior performance. This belief led to one of the industry's most innovative technologies. In 1995, Philips transformed the market by launching a line of linear fluorescent lamps featuring ALTO Lamp Technology. Philips pioneered this technology to do what's best for the environment, not just to pass a test. **Q: The current bulb that came with the fixture is a Hanstar FCL-22W Daylight, is this the correct replacement bulb?**
A: Yes, Tommy, that's the correct replacement bulb. The only difference is your original FCL-22W is a Daylight bulb, and the Philips 391169 is Cool White Plus bulb. It will work, but there will be a slight difference in the color of the two bulbs, the Philips 391169 being 'Daylight' and the Hanstar FCL-22W being 'Cool White'.

**Q: My bulb says fc8 t9/kb, is this the correct replacement?**
A: kB means kitchen and bath, so a different color temperature. But it will plug and play.

**Q: how do I test it on the work bench**
A: An interesting question. Unless you have a transformer that produces the correct voltage and amperage, you can’t.   However generally speaking, the rate of defective fluorescent bulbs from the factory is very, very low.  

If your old bulb stopped working and the new one doesn’t either, I would suggest buying a new ballast. They’re cheap and easy to replace and are likely to solve your problem.

**Q: DO I measure the inches on the outside or inside of the bulb?**
A: The measurements are not a big issue with circular bulbs. Always go by the item number on bulb & 100% of the time it will be the bulb you want. The measurements are not accurate whether inside or outside, they will vary!!
