As for the electric resistance (kanthol coils) as long as the graphite can't contact the coil they should be ok , I use mine (2) in a homemade wood pellet foundry that gets super hot when I start forcing the air in.... These crucibles have handled a few occasions of me not being patient and with little to no preheating put them right on the fire and they seem to be fine... Remember to flux them first.... **Q: Do i preheat it to 400 C or F for an hour?** A: I have no way to measure the temperature. Just know that I heat it slowly nd it has tolerated the melting of brass well. **Q: Worst case scenario if I tried melting aluminum in a charcoal forge with this product?** A: I use mine in a pellet burning furnace **Q: Instructions say to cure crucible in oven with borax. But borax melts at 1,369*F. Does it mean foundry instead of oven?** A: I just put mine in the house oven and set it for max temp.
