I paid for my cameras to be installed via desertcarts installation service but, that is because I'm disabled. I would have easily fitted these myself if I was still able-bodied. I spent quite a bit of time doing my own research before opting for these Ring cameras, and I will share my knowledge if it helps. I'm with Sky as my ISP (Internet Service Provider) I only pay for 37 MBPS in speed. After doing my research on Wi-Fi mesh networks I decided to opt for the BT Whole Home Wi-Fi Triple Pack (which you can buy from desertcart for Β£161.98) I didn't think they were overly expensive and It nearly doubled my speed up to 75 MBPS! The big bonus with these BT Wi-Fi discs is they work with any ISP (Internet Service Provider) be it Sky, Virgin, BT etc. There is also an Ethernet port at the back of each disc which means hard-wiring your Ring cameras via PoE (Power Over Ethernet) an absolute doddle. If you want a stable service and great picture with your Ring cameras you have to go PoE in my opinion instead of wireless. Only one of the discs has to be plugged into your router via Ethernet the other two you can move around your home to boost your signal. I live in a 2-bed bungalow and everything is working great for me but, I've also read many comments from people who live in houses who have purchased these discs, and they work great for them too. The Ring cameras are fantastic, and getting the app for them via the play store for your phone or tablet is easy and free! The same goes for getting the app for your laptop from the Microsoft store for windows. I took out the monthly plan for the Ring cameras the same day great service all round. Review: PoE is a very welcome feauture. The app is quite good,too. - The camera setup was seamless, the app is OK. I had no problems setting up, renaming and configuring the camera. As expected, there are a few things to consider when buying this camera. This is a cabled camera, you will have to get power from somewhere. You can either use the micro USB input, one of the most ubiquitous standards these days, or power over Ethernet. The latter takes power over your network cable, which pretty much eliminates all your wifi woes. This might not be a suitable option for everyone but if it is, it makes the camera a cracking device. I have only had the camera for a few days, I will report back if it starts to annoy me in the future :) As mentioned, the app is not perfect, then again whose camera security app is. You do not have a huge choice when it comes to camera software, usually the ones sold on desertcart are from no-name Chinese manufacturers and have terrible apps, user interfaces etc. Ring is quite user friendly but needs some additional polishing and features. - If your live view does not switch on, you have no idea what the problem is. A simple message telling you that your wifi is not perfect would go a long way. You can find your wifi strength under device health which is good. - I wish you had the option of disconnecting and reconnecting, or preferably restarting the camera through the app. There is always a reason to restart a device and the option should never be overlooked, at least in my opinion. It worked. When I queried "why" the response from Ring was that sometimes firmware updates don't always work the first time and the only way to correct the issue is to delete the camera and go through the setup once more. Haven't had any issues since and it was close to 12 months ago. Good Luck! **Q: How water resistant is this? App doesn't work and not stable on 5ghz *by S***T on 22 June 2019* I bought this camera specifically to run on 5GHZ to monitor my car which had been vandalised. When it arrived the reception was really very poor despite being about 15ft from my router which downloads at 75Mbps and provides a strong signal for all our mobile phones and laptop. I telephoned Ring CS and they eventually agreed to send me a chime. The problem being that the chime only runs on 2.4ghz which is very congested in my area which is why I wanted a 5GHZ camera in the first place. My car was broken into and despite being directly under a streetlight the image was too grainy and blurred for the police. In an effort to improve the reception on the camera I bought another wifi extender but couldn't get the camera to go into set up mode remotely. I then contacted Ring CS who told me that the camera isn't stable on 5ghz in any case. They also told me the chime(their branded repeater) had to be closer so I had to pay for an electrician to fit a powerpoint about 6ft from the camera but the reception was still very poor. This really isn't any better than my previous camera which was half the price The app is awful and glitchy and doesn't put the camera in set-up mode for pairing, I called customer services again and they said they couldn't help pair the camera with a non-Chime extender. I have to get a ladder out every time to manually reset and I'd really expected better I've now had this for 5 months. My car was broken in to during the night but the recording was far too poor for the police despite my car being parked directly under a streetlight about 15 feet from the camera. Since then the night vision has got far worse blurry with a strong green tinge. Pointless-no more use than a dummy camera that can be bought for a few pounds. Not worth Β£50 let alone the Β£179 I forked out. It has been especially difficult as I broke my leg earlier in the year and have to get a family member or pay for someone to go up the ladder every time it needs pairing 2nd Edit. Last night had my car broken into again, the thief looked straight at the camera, from just a few feet and directly under a street lamp. I'm trying to get a refund from Ring but just keep getting nonsensical scripted replies. I have attached a copy of the images of the thief.
