The velcro wrist straps go tightly around your wrists to support them and promote good lifting technique. The palms have a rubbery honeycomb-like pattern that will help you easily grip metal freeweights or medicine balls. The finger sleeves are a bit tight, but that is something you want, so it won't slip on you. The item is mostly black, but has an optional color trim that looks nice. This will help if you need just a bit of grip for any exercises or machines, or want to avoid contact with common-use machines at your local gym or fitness center. ### ⭐⭐ There is way too much space by the thumb. ... *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2016* There is way too much space by the thumb. The picture on this page of the palm side up is not accurate. When I'm doing chinups or lifting weights, there is much more direct contact with the chinup bar and weight than I expected on the part of the ball of my hand. Also, there's a nauseating smell out of the package, although that's not the reason for my two stars.Also, at least in my case, I think the sizing chart is wrong. I went according to the sizing guidance in the product description and ordered an XL, even though my hands tend to be small. Wrong. I should have ordered a medium or large.
