It has a woven black inner core with a woven red cover. Both were somewhat hard to cut.Pros: Strong - used to pull a stump from a fallen 12" dia. tree (along with digging and chopping). Included 2 ton shackle is perfect match and SAFE! Black sleeve and alum loop guard helps to prevent wear.Cons: Red outer sleeve is fat, could not even get all of cable into winch spool, also lose some power as it spools.
