I need a pillow with a ridge at the front that fills the gap between the width of my head and concave shape of my neck. The neck needs support as well as the head; this pillow's shape does that nicely.It has two ridges, one along each long side. One of them is higher than the other, which gives you a good chance of getting the height that will fit your own neck and head. My picture shows the profile.My first night, I used the taller ridge to support my neck. By morning, I could tell that it was a bit too high for me. From then on, I have used the lower ridge toward the front, which is comfortable for me. (When reading in bed, I turn it around and use the taller side to hold my head in reading position.)The pillow comes in a cylindrical tube, having been compressed tightly. Getting it out of the tube is a bit of an effort. When you pull it out, it looks odd and uneven (see picture), but it fills itself out with air and assumes it full-scale shape in less than an hour. At that point, it's ready to use.The pillow is quite firm. I like and need a firm pillow, but I'm sure some folks might have a problem with its firmness. I use a CPAP mask while sleeping, so I need a pillow that holds my head up while sleeping on my side, which keeps the mask off the mattress. Softer pillows do not hold my head up off the mattress. This one does and is ideal for side-sleeping CPAP users.The removable cover on the pillow is easily cleanable, to keep the pillow fresh. The fabric it is made from breathes nicely and stays fresh all night.I have now used the pillow for more than three weeks, including for several days on a rented vacation home bed totally different from my home mattress. It still works well. I notice, however, that the corner of the pillow that I rest my face on every night is softening up a bit--it is not quite as firm as it was in the beginning. I don't know if that's going to continue to soften enough to be a problem. For now, it's a good feature, as the new softer feel is excellent for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very comfortable and supportive of neck and shoulders. *by M***Y on Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2019* This pillow is very comfortable. When I received it, it came rolled up in a sleeve. Once I unpacked it, it took a few hours for it to return to its shape. I was surprised at how comfortable it feels and how much it supports my neck. I have really bad neck pain and immediately felt more comfortable laying on this pillow. Personally, I like the higher side because it feels better under my head and more supportive for my shoulders. However I like that it has a lower side too because my preference may change. It also comes with a soft, breathable cover. I was worried I may have to air out this pillow before using it because some products come with a strong chemical scent, but there was no smell at all and I used it immediately.
