Since my waist is 42 I got the extra large thinking it will fit me tight enough because I wanted it a little tighter. When the product arrived I tried it on under a T-shirt just in case if I didn't like the fit I would return it. It fit ok under the the t-shirt. So I removed the tags and washed it by hand with cold water but the next day when I tried it on without the T-shirt it was loose on my body. Now I can't return it since I removed the tags and washed it therefore I don't know how well it works with increasing sweating and performance. If you are around my size I would recomend to get size large.
