## Description

Sioux chief 650 series piston-type water hammer arresters shall be required in piping systems. Water hammer arresters shall have sufficient volume of air to dissipate the calculated kinetic energy generated in the piping system. Arresters shall be effective when installed at any angle. Arresters shall be approved for installation with no access panel required. Water hammer arresters shall be ANSI/asset 1010 2004 certified. Arresters shall be sized and placed per manufacturer's instructions.

Review: Works very well - Installed it on my washing machine hot and cold and on my dishwasher. I now forget sometimes I am washing as I got so use to the pipe sounds to tell me the washer is done. Banging of the water pipes is completely gone. Strong build , it seems durable as there was no metal flaking or compression while tightening it to the dishwasher line or washing machine line. Had no leaking.

I first tried a tiny version (size AA) from Home Depot, which worked a little bit, but this larger version (size B) from Sioux Chief was what I needed to fix my water hammer problem. Installed in about 10 minutes. I added a female 3/4" threaded fitting to my existing PVC system and then screwed the Arrester into the threaded PVC fitting using teflon tape.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: The description says sweat connection but the model number and picture shows 3/3 mip thread.  which is it?**
A: Mine was as in the picture, threaded MIP.  The sweat one is a different product number.

**Q: Will this work at the well pump? Hammers every time it shuts off.**
A: Works any where there is a hammer. Sizing is the issue. You may need a bigger unit for the main pump line or multiple units.You may also want to consider a non-slamming soft shut check valveon the down stream side of the pump.

**Q: "will it fit a garden hose type thread ?"**
A: If you need one for garden hose thread . Look for washing machine hammer arrestor since washers use the game garden hose thread

**Q: The mini water arrestors worked for about a year +. Will this size work for washing machine? And can I simply replace the mini with this size?**
A: I would think that this arresor would work fine but it might not be as simple to install as the mini arrestor The mini arrestor has a tee built into it that just attaches to the faucet. If you can remove the faucet from the water line and install a brass tee in it's place then screw the faucet and the 653 arrestor into the tee I would think that the 653 arrestor would work good. It might even be able to absorb water hammer that is generated from other sources.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally solved water hammer for our LG washer

These arrestors finally fixed the water hammer from our LG washing machine. We tried the mini arrestors (also Sioux Chief brand), and they made the problem somewhat better for about a year...but then the water hammer came back with a vengence. We wanted a simple solution, but decided to try these big ones instead...we had to buy a bunch of extra things from home depot to make it work for our purposes (3/4 brass tees, male garden hose thread couplings, garden hose female adapters, pipe dope, teflon tape). It feels a bit like overkill, and the setup is not so simple, but this is what finally COMPLETELY solved the water hammer problem with our LG washing machine, so we have been very happy with it. Rant: appliance manufacturers really should be required to have built-in and permanent solutions to prevent water hammer. Ridiculous that they can sell appliances that have the potential to do serious damage to peoples homes.
