The wooden back is the widest and tallest part of the case so it feels stuck on rather than integrated into the plastic holder. The plastic is hard and snaps onto the phone, rather than stretching around it, so I wouldn't want to be taking it off and putting it back on too regularly. It feels as though it would provide good protection, though, and the fact that the plastic extends slightly above the surface of the screen means that you can put the phone face down without any risk of scratching the screen.
