I have seen mixed reviews on the odor when using diesel but more opinions are nice** A: I use one indoors in a 1900 ft2 shop. Mostly I use diesel fuel but ignition with straight diesel is problematic with this and most multi fuel units. Diesel actually burns hotter and cleaner (less smell) than kerosine. I mix about 3 gallons of diesel with 2 gallons of kerosine. It a hotter cleaner burn that costs a lot less than straight kerosine. **Q: Can you use gas station diesel with this heater?** A: You are able to use diesel #2 with this unit. **Q: How long does a fill tank last?** A: About 6 hours. Takes a tank and a third to run a 9 hour day. **Q: Does this use a wick like smaller kerosene heaters do?** A: No, totally different burner type. It uses a powered pump/burner assembly and blows heat out one end, brings in burner air from the other end. Called a "salamander" heater in the construction trades.
