It is hard to clean off the peanut butter as well after a while. After purchasing this trap, I used pumpkin seeds instead. It took a while but it was able to catch a rat. A good thing about this trap from others is that the bar makes it easier to throw out the rat without throwing out the trap. With that said, an exterminator friend told me to put a milk crate or box over the trap so it does not inadvertently catch something else such as a dog or cat. It makes me wonder what else might be used to hide the trap from other animals. Update: Even thought I had this trap under a milk crate, I caught a sparrow bird. Why a bird was attracted to it, I don't know.
