Worked first night. This critter was tearing up my raised bed vegetable garden and taking the tomatoes off the vine and eating my squash plants as soon as they sprouted. No longer a problem with this little squirrel. Gone Gone Gone!

Painfully effective. Good an catching me, have yet to catch a rat. Maybe there aren't any.

These are good traps but the red plastic piece on the snap bar falls off easily. At least it did on ALL six we purchased and set out repeatedly over the past couple of months.The trip mechanism is finicky to set correctly. Putting a finger under the trip platform when setting them helps a lot.Just be sure to keep control until you're ready to set it in place. They will leave a lasting impression if you don't. You need the minimal amount of engagement of the trip lever or they may not snap closed despite the trip platform being fully depressed. Get it too light and the trap springs close when it's set in place.I would buy again simply because these last longer than the traditional wood base traps, but I don't think they work any "better". They don't trip as reliably despite the trip platform being fully deprezsed and the bait taken, and sometimes trip a few seconds after being set in place. Like I said, finnicky.

This trap works great if you want to catch you're self a pet rat. For the last few nights my kids have been sleeping in the liveing room because of the grey rat that has been haunting there bedroom. And as soon as I killed that rat the sooner I get my liveing room back and they go back to there own beds. So I bait the trap set it under one of there beds brushing my teethbin the bathroom right next to there room I here a loud noise I say what was that,? I realized it was the trap snapping I go check and to my surprise there was a rat snapped in the trapp but it was still breathing but I got super excited I could not wait to tell my kids in the morning they get there room back and I get my liveing room back but I'm not gonna touch the nasty thing so I wait about 20 minutes for my buddy to get home go in the room and the rat is gone peanut butter gone only thing left is a little bit of rat hair on the trap even though this trap is fairly cheap I would spend an extra 3$ on a trap that will kill the rat now I have an even bigger problem how am I gonna catch a rat now that it knows what the trap will do if it eats the peanut butter?

I need to UPDATE my review. One of the reasons I’ve purchased these is because I thought, SNAP and they are DEAD, without knowing what hit them. I guess that’s my complaint now, that, that SNAP, they are DEAD, does not always happen.This morning I went out to said trap and found a vole, (they mate for life, btw) trapped only by its back legs. It struggled. I released the trap and it gave out some squeaks. I felt horrible. What do you do with a wounded, living, breathing little creature that has NOT BEEN SNAPPED DEAD?So, sometimes these traps miss that mark. People should be aware of that.This manufacturer, this size (rat size) is darn expensive, so, I had to take a star away for that. BUT!! This size, this manufacturer of this product? I consistently get rats and mice. IT WORKS! If only they would charge a REASONABLE amount of money. The other thing is, they say they are reusable. That’s laughable! Remove the catch from the trap? Yuck! Who’s going to do that?
