Variable speed control is very smooth and all you can hear is the whoosh of the blades (when on high). Couldn't be happier. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not like fans sold by big box stores *by J***M on July 31, 2022* I really like the fan, but it came with a bad controller. I called Ves and I think I got transferred to the wrong person as a I left a message but never heard back. I called back a few days later and got the right person they shipped me a replacement controller that works just fine. To full take advantage of the controller, you need 4 strand wire ran to the fan instead of the usual 3. I have installed lots of fans over the years but never a J hook fan. This set up is very different from the fans I have installed before. It will not mount directly to a fan rated electrical box. I resolved this by getting an aluminum bar cutting and drilling to make an adapter, but it does not mount flush. It would take some serious modifications to get this fan to mount flush. This fan is mounted on our screened in porch so that wasn't a major concern, and it moves some serious air. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ good fan, had wrong switch *by R***L on December 8, 2019* Great fan, balanced with no wobble and moves a large amount of air in a large shop.
